Today is one year since we made the decision
to adopt from Vietnam.
to adopt from Vietnam.
When we signed up and started all our paperwork, we thought we would travel to get our baby this spring. Unfortunately, things changed with our government and there have been numerous delays. Things have been looking a little better lately as more people are being matched with their children, while others are getting approvals to travel to go get their children. There is a family with our agency that waited 175 days to be approved to travel. They are leaving on Friday (The Rees Family link under blogs). I have also heard of a person that waited less than 50 days. The US Gov't said it would take no more than 60, but MANY people are waiting longer.
At this point, we are waiting to be matched with our child. We have been waiting 139 days (to think that we were told 30 days when we signed), but we are remaining positive that it will happen soon. We are praying for sometime this month and are hoping to travel in the Fall. Yes, adoption is scary. Yes, the US and VN are going to close adoptions as of Sept 1st, but we should be OK.
Please continue to pray for us that we see this to completion and soon. I never thought we would see this day, without a baby, but we are here. We are still hopeful that this will work out for us though. It is hard given what we have been through lately, but we have to have FAITH.
